If you are like many people suffering from chronic debilitating sciatica pain, you are sick of getting temporary relief from your sciatica treatment and looking for a lasting solution to your pain.
After years of treating lower back pain, we identified a great need for specialised sciatica pain treatment. Sciatica pain is complex, it greatly differs from case to case, so we had one of our practitioners specialise in the factors, cause and signs that lead to sciatica pain.
What we found was that the true underlying cause, that brings on chronic sciatica pain is very similar to what brings on chronic lower back pain. We also found that just like with chronic lower back pain, the standard approach to sciatica pain used by most physiotherapists and chiropractors all treats the symptoms of sciatica not the cause.
Sciatica is an interference of the nerve, however the standard diagnose is that it always stems from the lower back. This first thought is that a bulging disc is to blame and patients are sent off for MRI’s to confirm a disc bulge. Most people who have chronic sciatica or lower back pain have one more disc bulges in their lumbar spine. This is due to postural imbalances created over a long period of time that lead to disc bulge, that lead to sciatica or lower back pain. It is important to note that a lumbar disc bulge is just a coincidental factor and rarely a causative factor of sciatica pain.
Localised pathology at the lumbosacral region is always blamed for sciatic nerve pain. Disc bulge, inflammation and joint, muscular or fascial tension in the lower back is blamed as the direct interference to the sciatic nerve.
As with chronic lower back pain, disc bulge, inflammation and tension is just a symptom of the postural imbalances of the body. The body lacks adequate strength in core postural areas to support the weight of its own structure when sitting down or standing up. This becomes quite evident when asking chronic lower back pain or sciatica pain patients if laying flat on their stomach or back provides noticeable relief. In almost all cases it does, purely because gravity (ie lack of support against it) is removed out of the equation.
At our Richmond massage clinic in Melbourne, we have practitioners who purely focus on chronic sciatica cases. We pride ourselves on helping people when all sciatica pain removal options have failed. Our sciatica specialists incorporate a two step process designed to eradicate the tension causing your sciatica pain, then strengthen your body so the pain never returns.
